Natalie Winter BiographyNatalie spent most of her life in Felixstowe, Suffolk, however being born in Warrington, Lancashire and spending her first six years living in Newton-Le-Willows means she counts herself as a firm Northerner, despite the misleading accent! Both Newton-Le-Willows and Felixstowe have a strong am-dram and performance community, which spurred on Natalie's enthusiasm for acting. Her passion led to performing at a young age as a sweet in 'The Nutcracker' in St. Helens. She also performed twice with Felixstowe Musical Theatre, her favourite production being the wonderful 'Underneath The Arches', and regular involvement with school productions, including adding a new angle to the character Audrey 2 in 'Little Shop of Horrors'. In her final year she directed and performed as Lucy Westernra in 'Dracula', as well as taking a leading role in local film project 'The Lost Sock'. In 2006, Natalie was unsucessful in her attempt to apply for drama schools. Not put off, however, she moved to London and completed a BA Drama (hons) at Queen Mary University of London, gaining a 1st class degree in 2009. Throughout university she gained strong commendation from her tutors for her hard work, acting and performance skills, and devised praised performances such as 'L'Avare' and '1 in 4', amongst others, which explored alternative versions of Moliere's 'The Miser' and Sarah Kane's '4:48 Psychosis' respectively. Natalie has a keen interest in Shakespearian and Classical texts, and so was thrilled to be involved with the Queen Mary Players in her final year, taking the lead roles of Viola in 'Twelfth Night' and Mrs. Malaprop in 'The Rivals', which she also co-directed. Further performances include two cabaret reviews and 'The Vagina Monologues' with QM Theatre Company, and numerous concerts with the QM Music Society, in which she sang several solos. It was during university that Natalie started performing for Rainbow Theatre Company, gaining performance experience in their summer Shakespeare tours. Since graduating, Natalie spent two years working hard to save up money for drama school, still intent on completing formal training. Whilst saving, she was lucky enough to be involved in a wide range of projects, including working professionally for Rainbow Theatre Company on several occasions, taking the title roles in their panto tours of 'Sleeping Beauty' and 'Dick Whittington'. She also put her physical theatre skills to the test working in Thorpe Park's Fright Night mazes 'Hellgate' and 'The Curse', used her scaring skills as clown Flopsy in 2011 short film 'The Pappy Tube', and created the role of Nellie/understudied the title character LiLotta VaVoom in the 2010 musical 'VaVoom: The Story of a Showgirl'. As of January 2011, Natalie has been working again with Rainbow Theatre Company on their schools tour, where she is thoroughly enjoying taking on the challenge of playing historical characters such as Queen Elizabeth I (Tudors), Mrs Mason (Great Fire of London) and Mrs. Squeers (Victorians). In her spare time, Natalie enjoys playing a wide range of computer games, watching films and teaching herself to speak Japanese and play the Ukulele. Natalie is delighted to have gained a place at Drama Studio London, which she will be attending in October 2011, and is looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead.
