[Update] Rainbow Theatre Summer Roundup - 15 August 2011What a summer I've had! I would like to thank all of the cast, production team and audiences for the wonderful experiences and opportunities I have had over the past two months. I have added new photos to the gallery, including production shots from 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' at Glastonbury Festival and 'The Tempest' and 'The Comedy of Errors' at Highdown Gardens, Worthing. All three shows were very well received with wonderful (and dedicated!) audiences for all three shows, despite the rain! You can read the review from The Argus here, which includes a cheeky mention for me! Many thanks to John Baydon-Stroud for his kind comments and for letting me use his photographs. [Update] Rainbow Shakespeare - 3 May 2011I am pleased to announce, as posted on Twitter earlier, that I shall be returning to the Worthing side of Rainbow Theatre this July in their annual Shakespeare productions. This year they are presenting 'The Tempest' and 'The Comedy of Errors' in which I will be playing Ariel and the Courtesan respectively. This will be my first proper year doing Shakespeare plays with Rainbow, though I have previously appeared in the Greenwich leg of their version of 'A Winter's Tale', 'The Taming of the Shrew' and 'The Merchant of Venice' in a sort of work experience fashion (and of course I couldn't forget the fun I had at Glastonbury last year!). As they are likely to be the last major productions I am involved with before going to Drama Studio London in October, I am keen to produce my best work so that I can use it as a comparison point in years to come, and see how and in what areas I have improved during training. Rainbow Shakespere will be performing at Highdown Gardens, Worthing:

We give each school a signed photograph of the team for the show they booked, and it's always interesting to see photos of other teams from previous tours hanging up on the wall when we arrive at schools that have booked us consistently for years.
'Tudor Tale' - As Queen Elizabeth I
'We'll Meet Again' - As Mrs. Copper
'The Great Fire of London' - As Mrs. Mason Also, admittedly a little late and with a different team, here is the photo from the 2010 Panto!
'Dick Whittington' - As Dick [Update] Continuing into next term - 26 Mar 2011I am happy to announce that last week I signed a new contract with Rainbow, so shall be staying with them to perform next term. Schools seem to book less shows in the summer, so I shall also have a bit more time off to start working through my reading list in preparation for Drama Studio London in October. As two of the team will be changing, I shall be changing parts and learning two new roles. I am looking forward to working on some different characters, and the change in roles and team dynamic will keep it all fresh. Also looking forward to seeing what the other actress does with the two parts of mine that she is taking over! The current tour has been going really well and we consistently get positive feedback from school staff and the children. I think my favourite moment so far was when I found out a boy in my group for 'We'll Meet Again' (the WW2-based show) had a severe case of Aspergers, after he'd performed a really convincing characterisation of an upset young boy in my character's care. He even gave me a hug as part of the performance! The teachers were very impressed so I hope the experience has helped him. I hope to have some photographs from the current tour shortly. [Update] Spring Term Reviews - 7 Feb 2011I am pleased to report that we have received some wonderful reviews from the staff at schools we have visited: Latchmere School in Kingston: "Brilliant actors who always manage to include every single child in the group" (of 'Victorian Children') "The Roman workshop was BRILLIANT and we are very much looking forward to the 'We'll Meet Again' workshop" Coopers Lane School: "The actors...were all an absolute delight and highly professional. The children were enthralled by the whole visit" [Update] Rainbow Theatre Spring Term - 15 Jan 2011I have been invited to join Rainbow Theatre on their term time schools tour, which will run up until mid April. This will be the first 'in rep' style performance I have done, and am looking forward to the challenge of learning 9 new scripts, and also working with the children on a more educational level. I shall be playing real and fictitious characters from a range of historical periods, including Queen Elizabeth I ('A Tudor Tale'), Mrs Mason ('The Great Fire of London') and Mrs Copper ('We'll Meet Again'), so plenty of interesting character work to be done! Rainbow Theatre Christmas Panto - 6 Dec 2010Delighted to be returning to Rainbow Theatre Company to perform in their panto, 'Dick Whittington'. We shall be touring in and around East London, Essex and Kent bringing a bit of Christmas magic into schools! For more information about Rainbow: |
